About me and my practice

Our approach to Practice is Person-Centred, Humanistic and Integrative. This puts you at the centre of the work we do offering empathy and honesty, and being alongside you as you tell your story.

We provide a safe space to reflect and explore, and a kind and friendly setting where you can gain understanding. We will help you work towards self-awareness, self-knowledge, perspective and trust. Using consideration, compassion and authenticity, we can help in finding pathways best suited to you.

You are valued, important and appreciated, and we offer our Talking Therapy in a respectful, practical and logical way.

The foundation of our practice is respect, and we make personal commitments to work honestly, authentically and openly with you. Your safety and wellbeing is at the centre of this work.

Our commitments not only involve active listening and being present for you in the moment, but also in helping provide a clear focus for your goals and objectives each and every step of the way.

What you have to say is important talk to us and we will listen. We work using whichever methods you are most comfortable with, or whichever you find most useful reviewing our work regularly to discover the best ways forward.

Primarily with bases in Hemel Hempstead and Hull, we also have connections to Devon, the North-West, Yorkshire, Hertfordshire, West Midlands, Wales, Durham and the North-East.

Our remote and online service means that we can provide services to all and any areas of the UK. My name is Keith Waites and I am fully qualified, fully insured and DBS checked. I am a registered member of The British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and ICO Registered for Data Privacy and Information rights.

Experience

I am fully qualified and fully insured, with experience of supporting clients with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, stress, trauma, addiction, relationships, abuse, chronic illness and family issues.

We approach this process as a psychological exercise, similar in essence to the process of any physical therapy, in terms of finding healthy ways towards growth.

What is Counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy, which takes place in a safe and confidential space. It provides an environment from which self-analysis and reflection can be used to consider your world and yourself within that world. Dialogue around things in your life that may be causing challenges or difficulties, can help towards awareness, perspective and understanding of these challenges, and offer growth beyond difficulties.

How often should I have sessions?
Generally sessions would be weekly, but can also be fortnightly or other frequencies. We adopt a flexible approach to suit your circumstances.

How many sessions should I have?
Entirely up to you. There is no obligation for a set number of sessions. Some people have 6 sessions, whilst others have 12 and sometimes more. This is entirely up to you, and how you feel within the process. These sessions are yours and the decision is yours.

How does the payment process work?
Via Bank transfer. Details provided when required.

Do I have to pay for my initial telephone call?
Initial call is free with no obligation. Whats important is that we start to build a connection, start getting to know each other, speak about what brings you to Counselling, and answer any questions you may have.

I'm not used to speaking about things that are troubling me, how will I be able to do that in Counselling?
Its about building a connection in an environment where you feel safe. We start with a conversation, and continue that conversation. You and your story are as important as anyone else's and Counselling offers someone to hear you, and your story.

Level 2 Certificate in Self-harm and Suicide prevention PASS 2022 to 2023

CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies - PASS 2019 to 2020

CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling skills -PASS 2018 to 2019

CPCAB Level 2 Award in Introduction to Counselling skills PASS 2018
